THE
RETURN OF THE 'UGLY AMERICAN': |
Eric Reeves and Sudan
In
the past eighteen months, Dr Eric Reeves, a professor
of English at Smith College in Massachusetts,
has emerged as a commentator on Sudan. He began
his Sudan involvement in the Spring of 1999, and
has taken a year's leave to continue his activities

ARROGANT, MISLEADING
AND PREJUDICED: |
Christian Aid on Sudan
On 15 March 2001 Christian Aid, a British non-governmental
organisation, published a report entitled The
Scorched Earth: Oil and War in Sudan. Civil
war has raged in Sudan off and on since 1955, and
has been fought between the Sudanese government
and rebels in southern Sudan. |

Amnesty International,
Oil and Sudan
Sudan: The Human Price of Oil. This report
claimed to examine human rights abuses in the oil-producing

ERIC REEVES' "REPORTING

REPORT |
In the
past eighteen months, Dr Eric Reeves, a professor
of English at Smith College in Massachusetts, has

ERIC REEVES' CREDIBILITY
ON SUDAN FURTHER DAMAGED BY BRITISH SATELLITE PICTURE
ANALYSIS OF SUDANESE OIL FIELDS |
Dr Eric
Reeves' self-appointed position as a long-distance
commentator on events within the Sudanese oil fields,
already deeply discredited, has been yet further
undermined by the release of an analysis of satellite
pictures taken of the oil fields over a number of
years. |

ALLEGATIONS OF OIL
DEVELOPMENT DISPLACEMENT IN SUDAN ASSESSED AGAINST
INDEPENDENT SOURCES |
As a consequence
of a flurry of interest following a 14 February
2001 news article by Reuters on allegations of civilian
displacement within one of the oil-producing areas
of southern Sudan, outside observers are uniquely
in a position to assess the claims made by people
such as Roger Winter and Dr Eric Reeves

ERIC
REEVES, SUDAN, DISPLACEMENT AND DOUBLE STANDARDS
|
Eric Reeves,
an English teacher at Smith College in Massachusetts,
has since 1999 set himself up as a long-distance
commentator on events within the Sudanese oil fields,
stating that he was opposed to the Sudanese oil
project and those foreign oil companies involved
within it. |

ERIC REEVES AGAINST
AFRICA |
When Smith
College's Dr Eric Reeves demands an end to the Sudanese
oil project, his poorly-informed campaign attempting
to interfere with economic investment in Sudan brings
him into direct conflict with the other countries
within the Horn of Africa region. |
